Don't just go to church, BE THE CHURCH!

Ideas & Suggestions to assist you in BEING THE CHURCH.

These ideas & suggestions are by no means meant to be an exhaustive list, rather they are meant to aide you in getting your creative juices flowing.  As followers of Christ, the sky is the limit, when it comes to actively BEING THE CHURCH and honoring our Heavenly Father, as we share His amazing love.  The ways that you can BE THE CHURCH, are limited only by your imagination.

---YARD WORK:  Mow someone's lawn, pick-up trash, rake leaves or pull weeds.  Do it for free and if given the opportunity, tell them the reason you're serving.  (Because Jesus served)

---DRIVE THRU:  Pay for the person in line behind you; hand the cashier a church card with "God Loves You" written on the back, and ask him/her to give it to the next car.

---SPOT TAKER:  Intentionally give up a parking spot you've been waiting for when another driver pulls up/shows interest.

---LINE BREAKER:  Let someone in front of you in the check-out line.

---REACH OUT & TOUCH SOMEONE:  Write a letter, card, or email of encouragement.

---PAID IN FULL:  When your server in a restaurant brings your check, ask for the check of another table.  Hand the server a church card with the words, "Jesus Paid It All" written on the back.  Ask the server to deliver the card.

---SPEND TIME:  Visit someone in a nursing home or a shut-in.

---QUALITY TIME:  Visit with someone and spend most of your time listening.  Let them guide the conversation and talk about what they want to talk about.

---MAKE A COMMITMENT:  In addition to your regular tithes to the Lord's Church, commit to supporting a Biblically based cause in which you believe.  Examples:  International Disaster Emergency Service (I.D.E.S.), Faith Christian Camp, Haitian Amercian Cooperative Christian Ministry (HACCM), Christ Reaching Asia Mission (CRAM), Johnson Bible College, World Vision, Feed the Children, ETC.

---BIG SPENDER:  Leave a BIG tip (BIG=20% or more) along with a church card that says "God loves you" OR "Jesus Paid It All" OR "God has blessed you".

---GROCERIES:  Pick-up a bag or two of groceries and deliver them to someone in need.

---GIFT CARD:  Purchase a gift card for Wal-Mart OR Kroger OR to a restaurant, and give it away, "no strings attached".

---CAR WASH:  At a car wash, pay for a person's car wash and if able and allowed to, wash the person's car for them.  Tell them why you're serving.  (Jesus served)

---DO LUNCH:  Take someone out to lunch AND PAY for them.  Use it as an opportunity to get to know them and invite them to church, and if the Spirit leads, share Christ with them.

---VOLUNTEER:  Volunteer with a community service agency.  Come-unity Cooperative Care, Laurel County Life Center, Homeless Shelter of London, United Way, Monthly Health Fair at Community Christian Church, ETC.

---BABYSIT:  Provide childcare for a couple or single parent so that they can enjoy an evening or afternoon without kids.  Do it for free, as an expression of God's love for them.

---FLOWERS:  Bring flowers to someone who needs to be uplifted and reminded that there are people who care.

---COURTEOUS DRIVING:  When driving, be patient and fight the urge to tailgate, shout, or blow your horn.  In heavy traffic allow someone to change lanes, recognizing that one more car in front of you will not make you arrive at your destination significantly later.  When sitting in traffic allow someone who is wanting to turn, to turn in the gap that you've created.

---BRING FOOD:  To someone in the hospital or to the family members who have been by their side.

---INVITE SOMEONE OVER:  Cook dinner for some guests.  Use it as an opportunity to get to know them better and perhaps, as the Lord leads, even share Jesus with them.

---PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION:  Bring someone who is unable to drive or does not have a vehicle to church, to the store, to a doctor's appointment, etc.  Use the time and opportunity to minister to the person in whatever way the Spirit leads.
